Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Using a Chainsaw from a Rope and Harness 0039-23 (formerly CS39)
This course designed is for anyone required to operate a chainsaw from a rope and harness.
Who Is This Qualification For?
Individuals who need to use a chainsaw in a tree/pole as part of their work in arboriculture, forestry or other industries. It will provide the individual with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to use chainsaws from a rope and harness safely and to industry standards in line with current legislation.
What Does This Qualification Cover?
It covers risk assessment, emergency planning, legislation, industry best practice, environmental considerations, tree condition, tools and equipment, pruning techniques, and using different cutting techniques to sever timber from a rope and harness using a chainsaw.
Objectives:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Class 2/3 chainsaw rated PPE to include, trousers (all round protection) boots, jacket, helmet with ear eye protections plus chinstrap.
Equipment:
Chainsaw (max bar 15 inches) Good fitting harness, climbing rope 35-45 metres x 2, min of 8 karabiners, adjustable strop x 2, cambium saver x 1, 2 side slings, pair of climbing irons (spikes), wire cord flip line, 3 prusik loops, small pulley block, helmet with chin strap. All kit must have current LOLER certificate or within 6 months of brand new purchase, with receipt.
