Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting 0039-20 (formerly CS30)
This course and assessment is designed for anyone using a chainsaw at work as a self-employed or employed operator, within a team or individual. NPTC City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting is to enable Individuals to operate chainsaws safely, effectively and with a good degree of overall underpinning knowledge of how to maintain their chainsaw. As part of their work in arboriculture, forestry, or other industries. It will provide the individual with the confidence, understanding and skills required to maintain a chainsaw and crosscut timber safely and to industry standards in line with current legislation.
Course Objectives

Be able to operate a chainsaw safely (battery or petrol driven).

To be able to carry out maintenance of chainsaw including ID and sharpening the chain correctly.

To be able to carry out operational chainsaw checks and rectify any issues.

To know the relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice.

To know how to and be able to cross-cut timber using a chainsaw safely and effectively.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must include:
Chainsaw Trousers – Class 1 type A (front protection), Chainsaw rated boots, Head Protection – to include head, ear and eye protection and Chainsaw Gloves…. all in very good working order.
Equipment
Chainsaw (max guide bar of 15/16 inches) fuel/oil and maintenance tools for your saw, packed lunch, and suitable wet weather clothing.
All equipment and PPE can be hired from us.
