Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue 0039-22 (formerly CS38)

This course is designed for anyone needing to be trained in order to climb trees/poles and or perform aerial rescues of an injured person.

Who Is This Course Aimed At:

Individuals who climb trees as part of their work in arboriculture, forestry, or other industries.  It will provide the individual with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to climb trees and perform aerial rescue safely and to industry standards in line with current legislation.

We Will Cover The Following:

Risk assessment, emergency planning, legislation, industry best practice, environmental considerations, tree condition and working at height assessments, equipment and systems, tree/pole climbing, aerial rescue by climbing suitability, rescue plan and implementation.

Objectives:

  • To be able to work safely as an individual or team player

  • To be able to access a tree using a rope and harness

  • To know the relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice.

  • To carry out aerial rescue operations

  • A good understand of the relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice

  • To be able to and understand how to carry out aerial rescue operations and plan accordingly

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): 

Appropriate footwear this being either walking boots which are sturdy or steel toe cap working boots. Clothing this should be snag proof outdoor clothing and a helmet with chin strap.

Equipment Required:

Good fitting Harness, climbing rope 35-45 metres x 2, Min of 8 karabiners, adjustable strop x 2, cambium saver x 1, 2 side slings, Pair of climbing irons (spikes), wire cord flip line, 3 prusik loops, small pulley block, helmet with chin strap, All kit must have current LOLER certificate or within 6 months of brand new purchase, with receipt.
